The first five holes on the golf course are referred to as ‘The Paddock’ by locals, not because of their wide-open spaces, as it is quite the opposite, but as a result of the original subdivision and the fenced areas when the club’s horses (for the horse drawn mowers) were stabled. Regardless of their name, these five holes are a good test of a golfer’s ability and often make or break your round.
